On my way back home from the Agriculture College, I bumped into one my friends from town. “Hi Sheba!” he called as he whizzed passed me on his bicycle with his friends. This man is normally a bit of jester, but today was too good. He just purchased new (fake) flowers for his bicycle. But the funniest part about it all for me was that these flowers were not for laughs, but earnest decorations. This is how Ethiopian men beatify their bikes…with fake flowers and shag seat coverings. Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. But I was happy to see their pride and delight in their newly pimped-out ride.
